I hired Blue Tongue Projects to convert my first floor Victorian flat and loft into a lovely home for my daughters and me. I don’t think the building had been decorated or updated since Victorian times; it really needed a lot of work. They changed the position of the Kitchen and totally opened it up. They turned an uninsulated attic into two gorgeous bedrooms and a bathroom. The place was completely transformed.
I chose Blue Tongue based on an initial impression of positivity and professionalism, but I couldn’t have even imagined the level of quality and craftsmanship that they put into the work. On the outside, they re-did the roof, and it was done beautifully, as was the pointing and brickwork, and guttering and fitting of many new windows and rooflights. On the inside they built and plastered walls, built shelves, bookcases, and beautiful wardrobes with drawers and cupboards. They did all the tiling, put in new floors, and re-used old floorboards delicately, in creative way, as well as putting in soundproofing below the floorboards.
They came up with wonderful solutions, using original material. Honestly, there was nothing that they couldn’t do, and do to an incredibly high standard. On top of being, builders, joiners, woodworkers, and incredible craftsman, they were designers. Aspects of the project had to change due to money constraints and planning regulations and they re-designed it and made it work. They were relentlessly creative and their care and attention to detail was a constant. They were truly dedicated to getting the job done and done well. The quality of the finish is just impeccable.
Also, since the project has finished everything has stood the test of time. Every day I admire the talent and beauty of their work. Their aftercare has been great too. I cannot recommend them enough. Everyone who comes to stay is just astonished by the beauty and quality of every detail and it is a delightful space for my family to live in. Sometimes I miss the days of the build just because I enjoyed working with the Blue Tongue team so much.

We were very fortunate to find Tom and Will during the First Phase reconfiguration and refurbishment of our 1960’s Bungalow, which was not going smoothly. Through their expertise and professionalism they and their team, worked their magic in retrieving the situation. During that difficult time for us, they worked tirelessly, many times during adverse weather conditions, and delivered a high spec finish to be very proud of.
When we eventually moved forward to our Second Phase extension of a fairly large Garden Room to the rear of the house, it was obvious to ask Blue Tongue to quote. Their process was fair and thorough. Therefore, with the positive experience we had received from them previously, together with the clarity and attention they gave to the formal Plans and Building Regulations required, we awarded them the work. The new build was scheduled to take around five months.
Personally, we do not have a high level of expertise or technical knowledge when it comes to building or even DIY, therefore we have relied again on Blue Tongue and their great Team for their knowledge, hard work and honesty. They have delivered on all fronts.
We are delighted with the results of their labours and are now enjoying a very comfortable house and home.

A five-star rating for Tom, Will and their Blue Tongue team for building a garden room, which effectively doubled the living/entertaining space in our renovated bungalow.
Tom not only led his crew of skilled tradesmen but virtually served as our project manager as well, always looking to bring new ideas to improve our plan and to cut costs where possible.
We were impressed by the professionalism of his tradesmen and their attention to detail. They were a good bunch to have around the house, polite and engaging, and always cleaned up at the end of every working day. We are very pleased with the garden room, down largely to the expertise of the Blue Tongue team.
